    Shower Thoughts‏ @TheWeirdWorld Oct 10

Saying don’t be sad, things could always be worse. Is like saying don’t be happy, things could always be better.

In one way, yes, but saying to someone not to be sad can be a way to comfort them, it's like two sides of the spectrum. "Things could always be worse" can promote optimism, to see the silver lining in something. "Things could always be better" however, promotes pessimism.

Of course, if someone says not to be sad because they believe something is too small and are technically putting you down, not trying to comfort you, THEN it's like saying not to be happy because things could be better.

That logic is the same as Saying don't be sad things will get better is like saying don't be happy things will get worse

Saying don't be sad, things could be worse, is like telling a man who has lost a leg, to stop being sad about it, some people have lost both their legs!

Not really.. if you’re sad cause your mom died that’s ok.. but if you are sad because you think life is hard or cause things are stressing you out.. I guarantee you that if you go to Africa and look at how they live.. you won’t be as sad and maybe even grateful in the end

Incorrect. You need to use opposites all the way if you want to be correct: Be happy, things couldn't be better. How's that? :)

No. Yes we all get what you are saying but no, it's similar but completely different. You could run a 5k I'm 24 minutes, not bad, you can be better, so you train and hit a PR sub 21... you did that with chronic tendinitis in your ankle, at least not a torn ACL.
