31/10/2000 was the last day of the 20th century, 1/1/2001 was the first day of the 21st cenury. It's just how it works, I thougt this was taught in primary

The first century started in the year 0001 AD and ended in the year 0100 AD 0101 was the start of the next and so on... That's how I got to understand what is happening
