Didn’t hurt me. We had a lot of gym and play time outside but we studied hard as well.
-
Sadly, it's not like that anymore
-
I'm a pre service teacher....they actually are way more active throughout the day than they were 20 years ago.
-
But understand that every school is different in every region so the school you're at might allow this but mine didn't because they wanted more time focused on study.
-
Believe me, I get that. Every district is different. And usually, a LOT different.
-
Good point. Didn’t think of it that way.
-
Trust me, we still get a good amount of seat time. No matter how much gym you have, in most of your core classes you are sitting, plus lunch, plus any other seat time. We are active, but the time in your seat adds up. We're active because most kids at my school play sports.

Would u agree that most teachers are trying to incorporate more hands on style learning into their lessons?

Bc they don’t sit for 8 hrs. They are up moving to different activities in and out of the classroom. They go to lunch and recess.
-
What “activities” are you talking about

other classes? The only time Im allowed to get up is to use the bathroom or go to my next class to sit more.

But students don’t really just sit down 8 hours in school.

I’m a teacher - they definitely don’t sit for 8 hours! Times have changed!
-
just graduated highschool and I can tell you at my school we legit just sat all day, we had PE but when you took it that was it if you wanted to take it again the credit didn't do anything so it was just a waste, and we did have the usual sports and 8 minutes to go to next class
-
Hold up! 8 minutes to get to the next class? We have 2 minutes my school is huge, almost 2,000 students and there’s a literal stampede across the school to get to your next class. Also we do sit for 8 hours a day, for break (recess) and lunch we sit. (I’m in a British school)
-
the way they got 8 minutes was they got the slowest teacher (bad leg) and had him walk across the two campuses (one is more of a freshman campus and then the other is for sophomore and up) and it took him 8 minutes
