aren't both mutually dependent?

Nope, completely different
-
don't you think a method to think limit the objects to think on? and the actual objects you think on make you develop certain modes of thinking?
-
thats why you should teach them a lot of methods to think but not choosing one over the other, thats for them to decide

This will certainly result in fewer religious individuals

Odd, because the government run schools are mass producing godless robots, and yet those schools don’t teach critical thinking skills at all. It’s all about listen and repeat.

I don’t like when parents try to push their own beliefs onto their kids. Instead, they should be teaching their kids how to think for themselves, and that it’s okay to have their own opinions.
-
Aren’t you simply telling other people how to think by saying how they should parent?

Unfortunately this is not what's taught in California schools & many schools in general. Teaching how to think for yourself is more difficult but more rewarding in the long run.
-
I disagree wholeheartedly. My Northern California education taught me to think critically and not what to think. Additionally we learned civil rights, analysis, peer support & more.

From a SoCal to a NoCal! I'm glad you got that experience then. I'd only hope more schools would include things like the Socratic method & encourage different opinions. Did your classes include original texts or interpretations of texts? The latter I see more of here at least.

Not only children. Modern adults need to be taught HOW, and not what to think as well.

But then I don't think we can give them that. Human beings grow to want attention and approval. When we ask them to think and they do, they look out for whether we like what they think. This may be in obvious approval or the fact that someone smiled at one idea more than the other.

Which means children should be taught to not just agree with everyone but also to form their own opinions. Learning to think for yourself is a very important part of life. This is parallel to what Bleep Normal is all about.
