Do you think the GOP has a chance in hell to get anything politically accomplished in SF? I highly doubt it. Spoiler Alert, it’s the Moderate Democrats that are sick & tired of the crime ridden streets & want peace restored in the streets. Safety SHOULD be a bipartisan issue.

I think we all want safe peaceful streets. How would you go about that -- by arresting and incarcerating more people? That hasn't worked in the past.

It has. See NYC cleanup of the early 90’s- massive crime decrease solely through more police (35%) and increased prosecution. One of the greatest transformations of the century.

That's not what happened. This was nationwide: every major city in America had crime peak in the 90s and plummet after that. NYPD took credit for this, but the evidence is pretty clear that they didn't have much to do with it.

Guess you weren’t in NYC at the time before/after). It was far beyond the decrease that the rest of the country took. Massive transformation

Feel free to provide data to back this up, but from where I'm sitting (New York), this was not a New York phenomenonpic.twitter.com/WVQ3ThE8YF

Interestingly enough, the nationwide crime decline during that time, corresponds with a large increase in incarceration. In the interest of fairness, I note other trends too, including an economic boom in the 90's due to the PC revolution. There are many variables. Need balance
