the absolute gall to try and sneak "fine art collecting" into that sentence like it's a normal everyday hobby for people who definitely aren't into money laundering

also lmao: I just learned that Worlds Inc is still an active company and they're getting into metaverse shit because *of fucking course* they are great graphic design. no notes.
it's some bullshit blurb about Worlds Inc and the metaverse. It's in white text on a white background triangle and you can't read a bunch of the words.

I have so much respect for it though. It's so laser-focused on the visuals of the doomed nineties VR wave (see: Worlds) while capturing the odd extremes of early 3D level design. Too-long corridors, tiny ledges to inch along, overly cramped 'realistic' rooms...

the problem with Cruelty Squad is that I really want to make my own levels but I know deep down that I could never Commit To The Aesthetic to the degree that it does

re-learning juuuust enough Sledge to make a map full of standard-sized cylinders that I can import into my Trenchbroom map because I refuse to "just eyeball" my archways 🥴

I don't have many opinions about typefaces but the new Discord font prevents me from making a "^___^;;" without getting horrible unsightly gaps between the underscores and this is basically a crime

Square Enix continuing to desperately hold out hope for blockchain shit is the funniest thing. you run FFXIV, you silly sausages. charge people for a little statue of their Warrior of Light. charge relic weapon hunters to skip the Manderville quests. charge for a barefoot glamour

thinking about the Dark World Mom scene from Darkseed 2 and yes, it was very funny at the time, but honestly over the years I've grown increasingly appreciative of the writer of this horror game just going "you were expecting an explanation? TOO BAD! FUCK YOU!!"

people tell me to be less self-depreciating all the time, but I promise them that all my organs are well-maintained and still valued at a very large fraction of what I originally paid for them

before engaging with someone's deeply cooked take I would kindly ask you to click through to their profile and see if they're trying to flog a book called "NEW MALE: REACH THE NEXT STEP OF HUMAN MEME-VOLUTION WITH THE POWER OF OMEGA THINKING" or some shit

"don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" was considerably more useful advice before the advent of high-resolution screens and anti-aliasing algorithms

I don't think it was completely careless design so much as a severe underestimation of the *huge* range of play styles that the game facilitates. I've seen some people nail the correct city within seconds and say 'close enough' But still, it'd be prudent to let me turn hints off

At some point geoguessr started giving 'hints' within the first few minutes of viewing a new place, and I'm finding it very rude to be told "HEY HERE'S A PICTURE OF A LOCAL LANDMARK AND ALSO THE NATIONAL FLAG" while I'm slowly detective-ing my way down to an exact street number

environment design is about taking a fuzzy picture in your head that's composed primarily of vibes and trying to reverse-engineer the necessary concrete details you need to recreate the vibes
