  2. Related to absolutely nothing: I just got off the phone with my dad and he said something I've never heard him say before and oh boy, did it make me laugh. He was trying to express how surprised a family member was by something and he said, "He was shocked down to his sneakers."

  3. Still hate when the cool kids boast about not knowing how to cook. "My oven is for storage." "I don't cook; I make reservations/order takeout." You learned nothing during a global pandemic? You think it's a flex that you don't know how to feed yourself? I feel sad for you!

so much of our media is wholly unequipped to do anything other than sensationalist, poverty porn when what people need in the midst of crisis = resources, help, mutual aid. this is the promise of movement journalism: to work *with* movements. expect receipts after passes.

A Border Patrol agent in Texas recently died of Covid and Border Patrol called it a "line-of-duty death," which led to really inaccurate local coverage about an agent "killed in the line of duty."

Does anyone know if it's standard practice for law enforcement to characterize officers' Covid-related deaths as being a “line of duty” death?

Powdery mildew destroys entire wine grape harvests, costs farmers $239 million annually, and accounts for 90 percent of pesticide use on vineyards. Could facial recognition technology be our best hope of beating the destructive fungus?
