Because the GOP aren't going to tell anyone and it's not gossipy enough for most cable news that tariffs are taxes that American consumers pay for goods imported from abroad. The Chinese don't care, they aren't rooting the bill.

MSNBC has been pretty good about getting info out on tariffs but there is soooo much chaos, hard for media to stay on a story. Low IQ base would not believe it anyway.

Even though there are more red states affected, it is California that will have an appreciable dent in national GDP. As much as the right maligns the state, it makes up a big part of the Trump numbers they like so much.
