We recorded this episode with Rohan just before the crisis hit and so we never got it out. So releasing it now for your weekend enjoyment. And honestly, given the inevitable privacy issues that will arise out of this crisis, thinking about payments privacy is quite relevant.

As
@rohangrey points out, there's this overwhelming push by academics, regulators, corporations, law enforcement to get rid of physical cash. And before we know it, it will be gone, with most people never having had a say in whether they like the implications of that.Show this thread

Ah come on. It's a war on tax evasion. It might not be a big issue in the US but a no cash economy would be a huge boon for most EMs.

You are terribly mistaken, in a way you cannot comprehend. You would annihilate countries that rely on robust under the table markets. Their gvmnt, like italy gvmt, are rapacious and corrupt. Getting their hands on all transactions means the end of most of them.

When I asked
@RepBillFoster who proposed a digital dollar his opinion on this, he said that he couldn't see cash going away in his lifetime. Congressman Foster is 64 years old. Not super encouraging! -
If it doesn't go away (fingers crossed) it wont be for lack of trying by ... certain actors.
