“Customers reported that they sometimes heard Smith being beaten and screaming for his life.” Sometimes? As in, more than once? As in, they heard a man being beaten and screaming for his life, did nothing, and went back to the restaurant to eat again?

That’s pretty much where I started and stopped. How did other people know about this poor man being held captive and didn’t try to help?

True example of The American Judicial System & that it was never created to give justice to Black Americans!!!!
-
I’m constantly repeating the U.S. has three justice systems: One for the wealthy/powerful, one for “regular folk,” and a third for people of color. We see evidence of it every single damn day. Atrocious.

“Customers reported that they sometimes heard Smith being beaten and screaming for his life.” Then why in the hell were they still customers? I would never spend money in any business where the boss was even cussing at employees, much less enslaving them.

-
And why the hell didn't they call the police earlier?

He enslaved him for 23 years and only gets a 10 year sentence. That sounds fair. WTF!

-
10 years for every day he did it sounds better.
