Yeah...especially the teenage years. My daughter and I have very similar personalities and I was in constant contact with my mother; seeking advice and apologizing

Check your privilege as a CBT exercise is useful. But the key is of course self discovery, changing your mind about your circumstances, or realizing empathetically what others have gone through. But demanding others "check their privilege" strikes me as hypocritical bullying.

I agree. Even if you’re imploring someone to expand their perspective, telling someone to “check their privilege” sounds like some teenaged girl
