If only... sigh*! As long as Mitchy is still Senate Majority Leader, these won’t even get a vote.

Sadly true which is why everyone should be focusing their efforts on the Senate and WH in 2020. If we want change this is our chance to flip the Senate with way more favorable odds than in 2018. Much better chance.

I cannot wait! Come 2020, we’ll have the power back in our corner, and we can start doing things that Republicans refuse to even bat an eye at. That includes Medicaid Expansion, Minimum Wage Increases, Paid Family Leave (amongst others) — not just these two pieces of legislation.
-
We need to act to roll back voter disenfranchisement before 2020. It won’t matter what the will of the people is if they can’t get to the ballot box.

Umm. Isn't the Electoral College part of our Constitution? I'm not sure it should be abolished. But it should certainly be tweaked, get rid of superdelegates, and have a lot more public oversight in choosing it, instead of this vague shadowy entity it is now.
-
The Electoral College has its roots in slavery. The Northern slave owners didn't want the Southern slave owners to have more votes than they did because they had more slaves and slaves' votes went to their owners. Slavery is gone. The Electoral College needs to go, too.
-
And nowadays, folks use the arguement 'it gives equal voice to rural states and urban places, which tend to be very liberal' to defend the Electoral College, but that doesn't make sense with one person, one vote.
-
Not only that, the Senate gives states with lower populations equal representation. It was built into the checks & balances from the beginning, BEFORE the Electoral College. All the Electoral College does is subvert the balance by giving states with lower populations MORE power.
-
Yes but do you think people who live in dense populated cities have the same values as people who live in rural areas? This is why California wants to split up. Us little people need a voice that won't be drowned out by mob rule.
-
So it's better to have the voice of a few drowning out the voices of many??
-
The racist, blocked bot pointed out the double-edged sword that our Founders had planned for. They were educated land holders, but there were many simple, rural folk who wouldn't understand what's needed in leaders handling so many complex issues: Just like ignorant MAGAts today.
-
Its not an issue that will get decided on twitter, however it warrants a lot more debate before simply getting rid of the EC or just keeping it, with no changes. But, yea, that bot is just an ignorant MAGAt.

The electoral college. Oh yes, which has its basis in… Let me see… Oh yeah: slavery.

Getting rid of Electoral College is so overdue. ONE person ONE vote, that's the goal
-
The GOP wouldn’t survive so they’ll fight tooth and nail to keep it.
-
For sure. Hence the gerrymandering as well
