Reading about this Sulawesi shrew-rat. It is the only rodent with no molar teeth. Its only teeth are its incisors, which uniquely have two cusps. It was discovered in 2012 and is thought to exclusively eat worms. 🐭

We systematically wore different shirts (see pic!) to disprove that "bright" colors scare animals. Our new study in shows that you can find more anoles and have higher capture success when wearing orange, the same color as their dewlap!

We now have some news on the 18,000 year old or puppy. Genome analyses shows it's a male. So we asked our Russian colleagues to name it... Thus, the name of the puppy is Dogor! Dogor is a Yakutian word for "friend", which seems very suitable.

After much consideration, it's been decided the correct way to celebrate Peter Siddle's birthday is to re-live the time Peter Siddle took a hat-trick on his birthday. Happy birthday, ! 🎂

I’ve been thinking about extinct South American lately so yesterday I sketched these. 1: Pyrotherium, an Oligicene pyrotherian; 2: A male Granastrapotherium, a Miocene astrapothere; 3: Toxodon, a notongulate than went extinct less than 8,000 years ago.
