    I delivered our heavenly born angel at 33 weeks. And it could have been prevented, had my doctor not ignored the symptoms I described to her, complained to her, repeatedly for weeks. Let’s stop the injustice shown towards Black women during pregnancy.

    8 hours later, my husband had to pick me up out the shower holding our son while we waited for the ambulance to transport us to the same hospital that had so dismissively treated my delivery symptoms.

    The AM it happened, I went to the hospital in excruciating pain, which I later realized were contractions (1st pregnancy so no clue what they felt like). I was throwing up constantly. Know what the doctors told me? Take an extra strength Tylenol.

    My own Mom damn near had to curse a White male doctor out when he said “oh well, that’s life, you’ll have more” right after informing me that I was in fact at risk of premature delivery —and I did—at home in the shower 2 weeks later.
