Look, man, this isn't political. We need a DA that can get this off the streets of San Francisco. @chesaboudin is not doing it. Watch this. These are people's children.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ7TaLQDRR8&ab_channel=sdsheriff …

Chesa boudin is charging drug sales, but our system of prohibition has never been effective at deterring crime, and our scientists tell us causes violence, lawlessness, addiction, and overdoses.https://twitter.com/chesaboudin/status/1279449608033316865?lang=en …

Chesa Boudin 博徹思Verified account @chesaboudinReplying to @chezpim @MattHaneySFFact: approximately 20% of my general felony team's caseload are drug sales. We do prosecute these cases, everyday, for better or worse. As we've learned from the war on drugs after all these decades of failure: this is not a problem we can police or prosecute our way out of.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Seen this copypasta. 1, would like to see supporting stats. 2, 20% seems low. 3, how many cases are they prosecuting? 4, what are the outcomes of cases/how many end up back on street? You also see

It is categorically lazy to send me someone else's blog post -- especially when it doesn't address the stats I am asking for. Violent crime down when streets are a ghost town? Big surprise. Meanwhile property crime is through the roof.

But if this is all a means to justify to us how we are all benefitting from ending cash bail or not prosecuting drug or petty crimes, I am not your audience.

@SFDAOffice heeds the advice of epidemiologists. I#StandWithChesa because petty theft was never supposed to be a death sentence, and our epidemiologists warn of existential public health risk in this moment of pandemic.https://sfdistrictattorney.org/policy/justice-driven-data/an-epidemic-inside-a-pandemic/ …1 reply 1 retweet 0 likes -

To say crime is down based on selective stats is a weird bit of mental gymnastics. I’m glad you stand with Chesa. I stand for the homeless people dying, San Francisco residents, and businesses. These idealistic fantasies are fine when things are good, but they are not good now.

I don’t know if this conflation serves to explain why we shouldn’t prosecute crime, but this is a slippery slope. We don’t agree, man. I hope we see a referendum with the recall. You don’t. I just hope you’re not complacent with what you’re seeing at home right now.

We should prosecute and are, but shouldn't incarcerate Incarceration in this moment of pandemic poses a greater threat to public health than non violent crime.
