What astonishes me here is that she managed the same budget everybody gets. She didn’t raise taxes just for her staff salaries or whatever. She just capped the top salaries. And that’s what’s most threatening to them, I guess.

I’m not familiar with details in the US, but what surprises me is the arrogance and privilege that empowers politicians to pay their own staff so poorly.

Yeah, that really struck me too. They're actively angry that she choose to pay her staff a fair wage. And the overwhelming majority of representations *don't* pay a living wage!

That way they can afford to recruit in their own image. Only those also coming from money can afford to do those jobs.

That's said, this seems like a bit of a stretch to me because AOC actually believeing in her ideas is way more plausible than her being that dirty this early in the game. Her staff agree to work for her at those rates voluntarily, that's something conservatives believe in.
