Incredibly, even now, some are *still* handwaving away the GOP effort to overturn the election as merely "performative." I have two questions for the people making this claim: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/12/11/scorching-reply-awful-texas-lawsuit-frames-stakes-moment/ …pic.twitter.com/fPFmOfa0BO

It's all about voter suppression. They need to create the specter of impropriety supported by their own claims of irregularities to make the baseless case that it should be harder for certain groups of people to vote. Georgia has already signaled their intent to do that.

This is probably the end goal. Republican controlled states will throw up massive voting road blocks to ensure 22 and 24 go their way. But I don't discount them actually trying a Legislative coup.

Whether you try or just plan to rob a bank you're still committing the crime. Some of Trump's heists failed, Impeached, but he always pushed and carried out heists where he could. The record of that makes Republicans actively seditious, anti-democracy and attempting a coup.

And he never gave up when a heist failed. He just attempted it again a month or two later, numbing us gradually. Things that seemed outrageous became normal. They are following that playbook exactly. Ascribing slightly less nefarious motives to them only normalizes it faster.

I think “all of the above” is the correct answer. The GOP is 100% throw sh*t at the wall and see what stinks I mean sticks.
