Telling someone that they can either move 1000+ miles or lose their job is a punishment regardless of what the current or future location of that job is. I'm sure Hawaii is great but if I actually wanted to live there I already would. Shipping my job there would be a punishment.

If your employer chooses to relocate his business you will get to decide if you want to move or find a new job. That is How it works in real life.

I grew up in Kansas City. It’s a lovely place. If my boss came to me and said, “Move to Kansas City in x months or you’re fired,” I’d be pissed, and it would have nothing to do with the city.

He's so gross. Just one in a long line of reasons not to be proud to be living in Missouri.

What’s really “elitist” is insensitivity to the real struggle employees who aren’t rich face when told they have to uproot their families to another State or lose their jobs.

General Motors did the same thing when they closed their plants. Threatened the employees retirement money and insurance. This hurt all the workers where these transplants went to work. Missouri is a beautiful place to live, never knock a place unless you've lived there.

How many times have Hawley and his ilk gone on about how unfair it is that folks in OK/MI/etc are asked to leave their homes and move away to The City to find work? That they want and deserve to be able to continue to do their labors close to home and family?
-
Yeah but they’re *real* Americans. There’s a difference.
