You are the one changing the subject. My points have been; When including emotional abuse (and abuse with a weapon), men are just as likely to be victims. You brought up generic violence stats, and at a 1.3% chance, that isnt a cause for concern. We dont live in a violent culture

Did you read the domestic violence statistics I linked to? It's for England and Wales. "Women were more likely to have experienced domestic abuse than men (7.5% compared with 4.3%). " And they were talking about psychological abuse as well as physical.

So we are now back to Domestic Violence, cool. Assuming those numbers, why isnt there any support for men on this? UK awareness for men is if they think they are gonna offend, not the victim. Do you think, if we had support, reduced stigma, the numbers for men would increase?

And did you see the comparative services? Men get a phone number, and women can get financial assistance, help with moving (refuges), legal support etc, all advertised. Much bigger parity of services.

Women began women's refuges, men are welcome to do the same for themselves. I'm sure there are women who would help them. I think men starting their own support network is an excellent idea.

Yet womens refuge centres are govt funded bt £20m a year. Some MPs have been asking about one for men for years, but get laughed at and told to 'man up'. The MPs wanted to look at the male suicide rate, awareness to male abuse victims, divorce courts etc but was laughed at.

The reason women's refuges are funded is because women lobbied for that. If men want a refuge system then they have to put the work in. Men have to use their democracy to push for what they want. It sounds like you care enough to be part of that.

We do lobby. We have groups like the MRA and MPs like Philip Davies. Unfortunately, there are people who shout down these groups as misogynist when all they want to do is debate and achieve parity in debating circles. Most debate about men is silenced due to 'patriarchy' nonsense

Well to be honest you don't exactly come across as understanding the female experience. When men tell us we are playing the victim, or that our experience with patriarchy is nonsense, most women won't be bothered with being empathetic in return.

not to mention that belief in a patriarchy is silly. Systematic benefits for males? Why are we killing ourselves, why are women able to financially and emotionally destroy us in divorce court? why is FGM illegal, but circumcision isnt? Women have more rights & protections than us

FGM is the equivalent of removing the entire glans not just the foreskin. Not to mention where women are completely sewn shut. Type 1 is the closest to circumcision but it's still equivalent of removing the glans, unless they just take the hood.https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/female-genital-mutilation-fgm/ …

fgm types range from a tiny pin prick to the most horrific thing you can imagine. when they circumcise a boy they remove half the specialized skin system meant to be on the penis every time. and loosing the glans or more is a very real possibility. complications are common.

I'm not pro-circumcision. Unless it's the least severe FGM, women lose all pleasant sensation. Circumcision does not have the same effect in men, unless there is a serious complication. I'm fine to not cut any baby, but I'm not Jewish.

I'm not going to tell Jewish families they can't circumcise their sons. In Muslim families there is no religious reason, it's cultural. For Jewish men it's the sign of their covenant.

the reason, back in the day was to prevent sand and debris getting trapped under the foreskin. For Muslims, it is a show of ownership of the woman. Nowadays, no excuse for either to occur. It is torture and brutal, with many complications, usually done by non-professionals.

Saying it's silly to believe in the patriarchy ignores the reality for loads of women. It's working class men who are suffering. Wealthy men are doing just fine. Wealthy men aren't the ones dying in industrial accidents, they can afford excellent divorce lawyers.

What you are saying is flawed logic. You say women suffer, not men, which is implied when the word 'patriarchy' is mentioned, yet you admit that generally speaking, men do too (given the wealthy are a minority). What you describe is an oligarchy, not patriarchy.

This is about boards not appointing women because they dont meet the qualifications of other candidates, and then offering explanations as to why not as many women may apply. The same could be said about men and Universities. Less men apply, so should we limit spaces for women?

I've said this before, but the reason women have refuges is because women set them up. There is nothing standing in the way of men doing this for themselves.

if you want a good read about why men dont have as much widespread support in this, you should look into Erin Pizzey and her role in setting up women's refuge centres in 1971 and her subsequent research and death-threats. anyone attempting to do this is shouted down.

I did read about her. I have sons, and a husband, so I get where you are coming from, but you should listen to women, and you should look at history. Social class rather than sex is what causes men to suffer. Super wealthy men run society through an old boys network of money.

whilst thankful, I dont see a need for apology. people need to look to the future and the past to prevent it, not dwell on it. Men need the same protections in scenarios like this as women. They need funding and access, like women, but are refused at every point.
