Still earns a tiny bit respect for showing up and facing the heat, it’s what a good politician should do. Doesn’t make me agree with him though.

My fave was when he set himself up for a MAJOR backfire when he said “then we would have to ban ALL assault weapons”...what did he think the response would be?!pic.twitter.com/7KuaDwZ7yv

@marcorubio was making a cerebral, cogent argument in response to an emotionally charged question. Democrats literally can’t hear arguments at that particular decibel. -
Without the labels and name calling, is there a point you might consider changing your opinions? It’s really easy to want other people to change their minds, it’s a really difficult thing to ask of ourselves. We should be listening to each other.
-
Not sure what you’re asking. But I will say that I’m leery when ppl posit the notion that I need to be open to changing my mind. That usually means they’re 2 entrenched 2 change their own. Rubio’s argument was simple; he has a position on the 2nd & the NRA aligns w/that position
-
I get it, it’s almost impossible to find someone who disagrees with you who is actually willing to listen. I really am curious, I want to understand why we’ve resorted to belittling each other for having different ideas. It might be nice to leave our echo chambers.
-
I’m not belittling anyone, the student took a cheap shot at him by using a trap question rather than asking a genuine one in search of an as yet unknown truth. The question presupposed the NRA was the only entity responsible for the shooting and left no latitude for enlightenment
-
I agree that the NRA is taking the full brunt of the anger. It does seem misplaced when one considers the organization as a whole doesn’t condone this behavior. I don’t think Rubio does either. I live in a heavily armed area, we love guns here, but there is no use for an AR.
-
And on this we agree. See, finding common ground isn’t always as hard as it may appear at first blush.
-
Absolutely. Change is good, even it it means some growing pangs. So we’re back to my question? Is there anything that might change your mind?
