As someone who volunteered to mentor for just such an organization, this really makes me question doing so.

always have someone else in the room with you. never mentor a female alone.

We've met at a Starbucks, in general. This turned out to be an issue when she accidentally knocked my chai onto my laptop bag... (*Totally* accidental, and the bag protected things as it was supposed to. It was just sticky until I washed it.)

even starbucks is kinda iffy. i would stick to a classroom setting with another educator present.

In a more perfect world. doesn't apply in reality when you want a mortgage, have kids to feed, utilities to pay, car maintenance, etc. Cosmetology is a super competitive field where only about 1% makes real money.

Not disagreeing at all about that. I just know a few women who regretted going to school for IT and STEM stuff because their heart's not in it.

Man people do things like work power plants, coal mine, go to war, collect trash, become police officers and firemen, work border patrol, and other crazy things their "heart" isn't in. at the end of they day it's about that dollar.
