a better question might be why is baseball still a thing?I get why people would want to play it-but to sit on their fat asses for hours eating garbage while swilling nerve toxin is just moronic.Lining the pockets of filthy rich asshole owners and narcissist players even worse.

Only the cleverest bigots like Ty Cobb should be able to play
-
Eh. A lot of that has been debunked. His first biographer was apparently a Trump-level liar, and there are contemporaneous accounts of Cobb supporting the integration of baseball, and being a big fan of Roy Campanella and Willie Mays.
-
Now, very few people born in Georgia in 1886 are going to be completely free of racism, but, by most accounts, Cobb was probably better than most for his time and place.

They have to be really skilled bigots to make it in the Bigs. Like, say, Ty Cobb.

You have to make your own bat and glove. Then you can play.
