There are many more Homeless people then you see on the street. And they even have good paying jobs. Examples of this are people with jobs that require them to constantly be traveling. Example: many of the over-the-road truck drivers are homeless. Lost job = lost home.

"myth: The homeless spend their money on drugs and alcohol. fact: You also do that." Yes, but as a homeless, I have to know that I can't do that kind of stuff if I want to put my life back again.
Also, you have to look at % of income spent on drugs and alcohol. JFC.

this is painfully accurate. I work at a family homeless shelter in a suburban setting, and 70% of our guests have jobs.
