Favourite sound in all of podcasting is the sound makes when asks a great question he didn’t think of.

No it's a much lower capex pathway to CCS for gas combustion than post combustion capture. Supercritical CO2 working cycle is more efficient, which compensates for the energy use by air separating unit, and power cycle is much more compact, offering lower capex opportunity.

Both Chevron and Oxy have made big geothermal announcements this week. It’s safe to say the industry has captured the attention of oil and gas now. And momentum is picking up fast.

It seems hydrogen hype cycle half life’s are getting shorter. Each day now I see a new write up about how hydrogen can’t solve some industrial problem, when just last year the hype seemed it would solve every problem. Prior hype cycles with hydrogen lasted longer.

"In one day, avg. data center could use 300K gallons of water to cool itself — same water consumption as 100K homes, according to researchers at Virginia Tech who also estimated that 1/5 data centers draws water from stressed watersheds mostly in the west"

Well, it took 29 years, but I finally watched the original Jurassic Park, a cautionary tale about understaffing your engineering department and letting people push code directly to prod.

It’s weird that google calendar (I guess all of them) don’t have a native way to just block time. It’s not an event, it doesn’t need a name or a reminder, just block it off I’m doing stuff…

One mistake that people make when crafting Product Strategy is that they try to make it inspiring. This makes your strategy fluffy, even suboptimal. For your strategy, optimize for “rigorous & clear” not “inspiring”. Your Mission & Vision can (and should) do the job of inspiring.

I still have my notes from our session years ago: running a noise print, normalizing, etc … it’s amateur hour for us, but it was easier to sync with video than I thought it was gonna be!
Big takeaway is audio is significantly better than recoding via web conferencing software.

Your customers don't care how much venture capital you've raised, how many employees you have, what awards you won, what fancy articles you link to.
They care about themselves. And how your product will remove a pain point or create more opportunities for them.
That's it.

Wondering what it feels like to be an LP in a fund that just spent $350M to invest in a startup whose business is "condos but with a party coordinator and singles mixers".
Surely just parking your money in the S&P 500 or NASDAQ is a better investment than that?

Can someone explain the value/benefit of lumping E+S+G into one "thing"? Seems to me it's a cynical approach by corporations to lump all their "do good" stuff into an isolated effort, separate from their core business operations.

When congressional climate action appeared dead, I suggested climate activists should look to PUCs.
Now that congressional climate action is on the verge of passage (knock wood) I… still think climate activists should look to PUCs (maybe even more so!)

To be clear: PASS THIS BILL. Never let perfect be the enemy of good. But this is an all to common example of geothermal, the forgotten renewable, having to fight an uphill battle to be on a level cost playing field.

MISO's board approved 18 new transmission lines today, enabling 53,000 MW of new, low-cost renewable energy projects.
A big milestone, as it's the single largest transmission expansion enabling clean energy in 🇺🇸 history.
But much more still needed.
