(2/4) Our teams spent the last few days conducting an in-depth review of the videos flagged to us, and while we found language that was clearly hurtful, the videos as posted don’t violate our policies. We’ve included more info below to explain this decision:

(3/4) As an open platform, it’s crucial for us to allow everyone–from creators to journalists to late-night TV hosts–to express their opinions w/in the scope of our policies. Opinions can be deeply offensive, but if they don’t violate our policies, they’ll remain on our site.

(4/4) Even if a video remains on our site, it doesn’t mean we endorse/support that viewpoint. There are other aspects of the channel that we’re still evaluating– we’ll be in touch with any further updates.

Update on our continued review–we have suspended this channel’s monetization. We came to this decision because a pattern of egregious actions has harmed the broader community and is against our YouTube Partner Program policies. More here:https://yt.be/help/xLtT

Acosta’s press pass was suspended over a doctored video and also he’s a member of the press being denied access to the president of a country at a whim- but yes actually that is the same as a bully not getting ad revenue from a private platform and you are very smart

How is Crowder a bully when Carlos has a bigger platform on vox also Carlos has a twitter handle called gaywonk so if Crowder calls him gay and Latino how is that offensive?

Okay, punching up vs punching down is a real thing, but not what we see here. I would say that Crowder is a bully because he mobilizes people to attack and dox Carlos. I’d ALSO argue their platforms aren’t different enough that they couldn’t be considered on the same level.

Is it offensive when I call a woman a bitch if I just heard her gf call her that? Is it offensive if I call black people the n word after hearing it? Marginalized groups co-opt hurtful language to unify themselves and strengthen themselves against those very words.

Words don’t have meaning without context. Your mom can call you honey or sweetie, but it’d be pretty weird if I did that. In the same way, the gay community can internally refer to each other however they like (or you can brand yourself as gay for visibility reasons)...

But Crowder, as a part of the outgroup, when he uses those words they are hateful and hurtful. He’s a bigot and a bully. If you’ve got any other questions, you’ve caught me on a good day.
