I get that, indeed your right,... personally rather not have my disability be an afterthought since when it is I may be locked out of participating in host of activities ranging from social gathering, school settings, patronizing bizzes, parking etc, a quality of life concern.

I certainly can't disagree there, accessibility is vitally important. Not just for physical disabilities, but neurological and psychological as well (think extra test time for someone with dyslexia). In that regard, keep doing what works for you!
