Temple Grandin is a problem for #autistic people.
Her
"Stimming is fine as long as it's done at the right time and place."
and
"Autistics today don't find jobs because they haven't been drilled with proper manners like in the 50s."
kind of bullshit is SO harmful.
#sigh
And if you ultimately either can't or won't deal with the pains of learning to integrate - because don't get me remotely wrong, it IS painful, you'll fail and it'll hurt but you'll LEARN - then don't expect society to kowtow to you. Because it's about meeting in the middle.

Frankly I'm sick of all these autism "support" groups telling people, hey, it's okay to not be integrated. Maybe it is, but you don't then get to rail against society for rejecting you. Yeah, learning to integrate sucks. It hurts. So does learning to ride a bike.

Or sticking with mainstream schooling. Or learning programming. Or learning horse riding. Or learning any damn number of things. You won't start out perfect, you'll fall off the bike, you'll have meltdowns, it'll suck, but it's no reason not to TRY, damn it.
