Temple Grandin is a problem for #autistic people.
Her
"Stimming is fine as long as it's done at the right time and place."
and
"Autistics today don't find jobs because they haven't been drilled with proper manners like in the 50s."
kind of bullshit is SO harmful.
#sigh
At the end of the day you can adhere to your ideals that the world should cater to each's personal autism spectrogram, but that and a buck will get you a cup of coffee. As someone on the autism spectrum you have an unparalleled ability to learn. So learn sense, not helplessness.

And if you ultimately either can't or won't deal with the pains of learning to integrate - because don't get me remotely wrong, it IS painful, you'll fail and it'll hurt but you'll LEARN - then don't expect society to kowtow to you. Because it's about meeting in the middle.

Frankly I'm sick of all these autism "support" groups telling people, hey, it's okay to not be integrated. Maybe it is, but you don't then get to rail against society for rejecting you. Yeah, learning to integrate sucks. It hurts. So does learning to ride a bike.
