How did emulation related work go with your profession work?
I'm happy to help with game development advice, and emulation-related coding advice. Worked for a number of major publishers, almost 13 years of industry experience under my belt. 15/16 years of MAME development experience. :-)

By and large, my employers have either not cared about, or sometimes encouraged, my emulation work. When I explain that MAME doesn't even come close to emulating modern gaming platforms, any potential legal objections go away pretty quickly.

No reading recommendations, but can the rules be distilled down into a set of bitfields, one bit per rule? From that point, combining and comparing rules becomes a lot easier.
