My understanding is that as adults, individuals diagnosed as autistic and those diagnosed as Asperger's are *simply not meaningfully distinguishable*, and that the supposed features of Asperger's such as "no language delay" are just individual variation.
As someone diagnosed with Asperger's back in 1998, this is my understanding as to the change in the DSM V as well.
