Just like every convention I've ever been to, now that I'm actually *at* #NFC2018, I'm very much having an "okay, now what" moment.

Funny enough, just now I've finally figured out that the issue is just getting over the hump of self-doubt when it comes to striking up a conversation with people.
It's a huge assist when someone else insists on breaking the ice, rather than me having to break the ice. A fur from Uppsala at the con wanted to meet me, so we did. We went together to the nearby liquor store, and went back to the con, having great conversation the whole time.

It's not an issue of having things to talk about - the other person can think of things to talk about, too - and it's not a matter of being interesting. It's just a matter of getting over that initial "Hey, how y'doing?" barrier.

That's what I was trying to say yesterday. Keep it simple, be friendly, ask a few unimportant questions get a back and forth going let it grow from that. As I'm a bit of a socially awkward penguin, it's how I deal with new people in social settings.
