What's an ASIC again?
Application-Specific Integrated Circuit. Basically, dedicated non-programmable logic. The opposite of what most Tiger / Game & Watch / etc. games used, which is a microcontroller: a CPU plus RAM, ROM, and peripheral devices all on the same silicon die.
