Have you tried closing and reopening the game? Sleep and home shouldn't actually do anything since it just pauses everything.
So basically, @ConcernedApe has 20 bucks of my money, and I have a game I can no longer play because it's soft-locked. Was Stardew Valley tested at all before it was released on Switch? Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. It sucked to lose my progress for the day, but that was ultimately what it took.
