Almost every morning, I'm the first person in the office. What's the first thing I do when I get into the office, other than un-sleeping my workstation? Make coffee, of course. Off I go to our de Jong DUKE Nio coffee machine. A fancy-looking machine to be sure: touchscreen, etc.
Every morning, it's sitting on the main selection menu as it should be, but with a small message in the lower-right corner of the screen: "Energysparläge - tryck på skärmen". For the non-Svenskatalande, "Energy saving - push on the screen." So I tryck on the jävla skärm.
It makes a 'dit' noise to indicate my action was seen. Does it exit energy-saving mode, though? Does it, fuck. It does nothing but 'dit' until I unlock the service door, pop it open, close it, and exit service mode, at which point it realizes it's time for the daily rinse cycle.
Now, as a coder, I sympathize. Bugs happen. But something this basic - the machine not exiting energy-saving mode unless the user forces it into the service menu - makes me wonder if these idiots have tested their firmware at *all*. Seriously, what the hell.
