Been on both sides. If you are a senior developer, as a leader you should be developing junior staff. Send them to the meeting or bring them along to gain perspective.

Make sure you’re sending a diverse range of junior staff, too. Don’t give the same person all the opportunities to succeed.

What makes you think meetings are opportunities to succeed vs opportunities to waste everybody’s time so that you can be behind schedule on your actual work?

Being included in meetings is a sign that people value your opinion enough to keep you informed of what’s going on. As a woman, that can be asking for too much.

Both having useless meetings that nobody wants to attend, and having useful meetings but not inviting people to attend, are signs of a cultural problem at a company. Companies should have meetings that are useful, informative, and - as you point out - inclusive.
