I'm genuinely shocked at how usable Linux is on the desktop these days. I've got Ubuntu 17.10 running in a VM and was able to get Telegram, Spotify, kvIRC, and FileZilla installed within minutes through the graphical software manager.
Not that I've ever had any particular issues with Linux, I mean I remember running Fedora on a spare box 13 years ago, and using it to run a home NAS, and also using it to cross-compile Nintendo 64 test code. Just saying, it's gotten even better over the years.
Yeah, the only issue is that in this VM at least, the sound gradually goes garbled for about 30 seconds and then corrects itself. So I've got Spotify running on Windows in the background while I'm using the VM fullscreen.
The usefulness of the gui has made Linux a lot more popular with those not fond of command lines.
