I've heard people say that before, but I've yet to encounter a toy store here in Sweden that doesn't sell instruction-less brick assortments in a rainbow of colors, in addition to the usual instruction-based sets. :-)
FWIW, I prefer to think of the instructions just as they were always intended - suggestions. After all, I'm pretty sure there was no "take bricks out of the back walls and thread Christmas lights through" step in these sets. ;-) Props to my partner for coming up with the idea!pic.twitter.com/NNNMw4jYcw

Ooh, that is pretty. You are probably right, but the older sets tended to have a booklet of *several* suggestions, even for "single-model" sets like the old technic car chassis. Enjoy your build :-)

Oh yeah, I agree on that point. Though to that end I would suggest checking out the "Creator" series - they specifically advertise having at least 2-4 starting point designs.
