Die Hard 2's ending never sat right with me for similar reasons to Return of the Jedi not sitting right with Randall from Clerks. Yay, the day is saved, everyone survived, cue the music! ...Except the 200 people plus Captain O'Brien who died when their plane ran into the ground.
It's been a while since I've seen that one. Is the dissonance due to the whole "Hooray, his daughter's back! Sure, she was sold into white slavery and probably horrifically abused, but she's back, yay!" thing, or something I don't remember?

Well, more "My best friend who I was so happy to go to Paris with died on a bed in a drug den and we don't even know where her body is, let's smile and walk as we get off the plane!"
