Also, I posted this partly to underscore how mature our workflow is for games that use known hardware. The ROM dump and LCD SVG for The Nightmare Before Christmas were made available to us literally less than 12 hours ago, and it's already in MAME and working.
If it turns out to be unknown hardware, this timeline of course goes entirely out the window, but for known games, it's easy-peasy. It helps that the hardware other than the microcontroller and LCD is, as I've said, rarely anything other than a bunch of passive components.
