Maybe I'm weird, but I don't care what pronoun a person chooses, I will use the pronoun they tell me to. Your preferred pronoun is dzqphzbnt? Then I will use dzqphzbnt. How otherwise stress-free must a person's life be to get offended at the pronouns that *other* people choose?
"Oh noooo, you chose a pronoun for yourself that I disagree with, this clearly has some major unspecified impact on my life to the point that I can't find it in me to just be courteous to you"
As long as whoever it is doesn't get offended when someone uses the incorrect pronoun before getting the chance to even learn it.
Well yeah, courtesy is a two-way street. 100% agreed on that.
If a language feature is proving unmaintainable, deprecate it and patch it out next release ;-)
I always had trouble remembering people. I have enough trouble remembering names and attaching them to faces. When each person chooses a pronoun, you have to remember each one. Add this and I just give up. Everyone is 'hello'.
