Depends on the nature of the position. The few times I've interviewed people, I've cared way more about comprehension than rote knowledge.
As someone evaluating a potential hire, I'm perfectly fine with "I'll Google it," as long as it is something I would expect to Google for.

If an applicant expects to Google for some algorithm specific to the project, that's a bad sign, sure. I totally agree on that point.

I don't need someone to have an encyclopedic knowledge of, say, every tree algorithm. I do expect them to know how to *find* that knowledge.
