This situation is a super-known one. And the conclusion was "wow, sometimes .EDD files are really problematic". Now they won't be.
Super-known to who? I'd like to know more about the technical details. If EDD has issues accurately preserving data, it should be fixed obv.

My understanding is that we used EDD b/c that's the "best" we had; not anymore. Not sure we need to fix EDD, it's been superseded.
