I simply mean the EDD format had/has a flaw that makes it unreliable for a subset of images that we are now fixing.

This situation is a super-known one. And the conclusion was "wow, sometimes .EDD files are really problematic". Now they won't be.

Super-known to who? I'd like to know more about the technical details. If EDD has issues accurately preserving data, it should be fixed obv.
