In particularly I'm wondering how Dr. Dre managed it with Parliament records back in the 90's.
@JoolsFenner How do DJs manage to both beat-match and pitch-match without making a pig's breakfast of the audio quality itself?

For fun I pitched Can't C Me up and What's My Name down, and while they match in pitch and key, the tempos are wildly off.

That's what baffles me. The two songs use the same Parliament sample, yet have wildly different tempos but similar keys.

And they were made way back in the mid 90's. And I'm not sure Dr. Dre had access to the stems like you guys did.
