One of the geekiest pleasures I ever had in gamedev was working on an ESPN branded game and getting to play with the full raw broadcast graphics package first hand. So much fun that almost no one else would ever understand, but I get the feeling you might.
Sadly, I've never gotten to work with actual Chyron hardware. But, amusingly, the class name of one of the UI widgets I've implemented at my day job is "ChyronWidget". And in my spare time, I'm gradually working towards getting MAME's Quantel DPB-7000 driver working.

FWIW, the name "ChyronWidget" is intentional, as that's exactly what the widget is responsible for drawing.

I had known what a "chyron" was, but I had no idea that it was the name of a broadcast graphics company.
