Like, I've just never been particularly enthusiastic about what I've got going on below the waistline, and have wanted all that crap gone for as long as I can remember. Am I somehow not non-binary just because I don't want to wear a dress? Excuse?

Am I not enby because I don't want to have full GRS, just yeet what's there and go on a maintenance dose of T to prevent bone density loss, and have wanted that for decades? Clothing is just something I wear to not get arrested in public, it's a fucking hassle.

And from all of the women I've known in my life, all of the women I follow on Twitter, I get first-hand accounts of what a colossal pain in the ass womens' clothing is, and this doctor at ANOVA is suggesting I dabble in CD? Where did she get her medical degree, fucking DeVry?

And who the hell decided that it's a 1-dimensional axis in the first place, "male" on one end, "female" on the other, and a Munch-esque chariacture of both, generated by a poorly-coded GAN running on an overheating AWS server right in the middle, and only THAT is non-binary?

Like have I just gone completely out of my goddamn mind, or is the reality that we are, each of us, the total sum of many different axes, from how we present ourselves physically or socially, to how we think of ourselves mentally, and so many other things that make you *you*?

short answer, no, and yes. Categorization/generalization are really powerful tools, including the power to convince people that because they know one thing about someone, they know many things (and they might be right! but not always or even often)

sometimes things are really complicated, and it’s valid for them to just be what they are, and categories are harmful and counterproductive

I'm happy for things to "just be what they are", but when I have a doctor who's giving me facile thought experiments that I've long thought through, on a self-related topic I've been clear on for 20+ years now, rather than taking me at my word and going forward, it's a bit much.
