Arguably Notch was the least important part of Minecraft too, given it’s all about what you can do within the game’s framework, as opposed to FNAF which is, uh, isn’t it basically just an FMV game? I’ve never even played it.
"'It's like Minecraft without Notch,' one wrote about Cawthon's possible censure. 'It's a huge hole in the community that we can't fill to this day.'" If a bigot leaving a community leaves a hole in that community, that community has some soul-searching to do.

FNAF is an interesting enough game, to be fair. But that quote from the PC Gamer article about this whole fiasco was hilarious on multiple levels. I mean, it shows how well it was buried that Notch was little more than a figurehead for a couple years *before* he even left, too.

I'm so behind. Is Notch the bigot or is it Cawthon? Also I felt no difference in minecraft after Notch left

Cawthon is getting blowback for political contributions that skew heavily right. Notch is the guy who more or less went on a transphobic tirade. In either case, I believe it's important to mentally partition the creator from the creation, as both FNAF and MC are damn fine games.
