I'm not even touching the apparent marketing of masking, a concept integral to neuroatypical life. It's just so bad.
To me, there's a vast difference between masking and integration. In my opinion it's pretty reasonable that with enough self-driven research that results in an "Oh, so THAT'S how it is" reaction, it can be possible to thrive in an NT world. But it's difficult.
At no point should you ever have to put on an artificial mask and become someone that you just plain aren't in order to while away the day. But shifts can come gradually. I didn't realize I'd simply learned to *be* social until years later, looking back.
None of that is a defense of more or less going "lol, just mask, bro!" Yeah, no, it doesn't really work that way, and it doesn't really work that well.
