cw: self-harm Not intending to alarm anyone with this observation, just noting an odd twist of the English language: Why is it called "taking [your] life"? From whom? Is the implication that your life isn't already yours to do with as you see fit?

I think it's just a contraction, "taking your own life", as opposed to taking someone else's from them.

cw: self-harm just in case Technically 'taking' something can refer to removing it from a place as well as from a person. So your 'taking' your life and removing it from this plane of existence. Although it does make me wonder where your 'taking' from when you 'take a nap?'
