As much as I adore seeing FPGA-based emulation, I really wish the community would stop putting forth what amounts to propaganda, which gets consumed uncritically by non-technical article writers. It doesn't involve emulating machines on a transistor level. It just plain doesn't.

Quite a number of drivers in MAME exhibit accuracy flaws that are there not because they *can't* be solved, but that they *haven't* been solved. It's like trying to claim SNES emulation is terrible by comparing a real SNES to ZSNES when Higan is a fucking thing now.
-
Yet the FPGA crowd like to act as if it's a "can't" situation rather than a "hasn't yet been", situation - and the people working on FPGA-based emulators, for the most part, are going closed-source in order to actively *prevent* open emulators from getting at helpful info.

The emulation could be perfect on either or could be completely botched on either. One thing a PC can't do is reduce the latency to zero.
-
And I'm happy to suggest FPGA-based emulation as a solution to that. But this woo-woo "magically accurate" crap is the technical equivalent of MMS or Jilly Juice, and can fuck right off. Functional accuracy comes from effort, it's not an inherent aspect of the solution.
